EEKHOFF & ECKHOFF
Family History Site
Dedicated to the Ostfrisian-Dutch Pioneers in America

In 1867 my ancestors, Peter and Johanna Eekhoff, and their seven children:

Gerjet Arends, Peter, Arend, Harm, Hilke, Peterke, and Annie

left their home near Emden, East Friesland (Germany) and emigrated to the United States, settling near German Valley, Stephenson County, Illinois. Many other Eekhoffs made the same journey. Today their descendants number in the thousands, and they span the globe. During the course of the last 130+ years, some of their descendants have changed the spelling of the surname to "Eckhoff", as did my grandfather, Peter George Eckhoff, who was a son of Gerjet Arends.

It is my hope that other Eekhoff or Eckhoff descendants will gain some understanding from the materials published on this site, and that it will be useful to them in their own Family History efforts. Contributions of historical and genealogical information are are encouraged! Please E-mail any contributed information to me. I will try to both acknowledge and credit your contribution. Several contributing individuals are listed on the Contributors page.

Also, I will try to maintain this site as a central location for Eekhoff & Eckhoff Family History Information. I intend to continue to develop and expand his site; consider it to be perpetually "under construction"!
