What's New

My Web Site http://www.aaroneckhoff.com/index.html is dedicated to my car projects showing my progress and offering information to others about what I am doing and how I am doing it.

Above are just a few pictures of the vehicles I have collected. The 1950 Champion 4 door is on hold for a while until I finish the 1951 Champ 2 door (the Yellow one) above, I am also getting close to finishing the 57 Chevy Bel Air. I will be posting more photos of the 57 Chevy and the 51 Champ as I get further along, and details on what I am doing.

Sometimes my hobby turns into a lot of educated guessing followed by hard work. My 66 Beetle is a good example of this.

top of page Recently the shift rod guide broke, which is in the tunnel, and has no access. Unfortunately I have no photos to share. I removed the shifter and pulled back the carpet. I located the broken shift rod guide, and marked the area that I needed to cut on the tunnel.

Using and angle grinder with a cut off wheel I made 3 cuts leaving a long side on the passenger side still attached. I folded the cut piece (making kind of a flap) brining out and exposing the broken shift rod guide. I drilled out the spot welds and removed the broken guide. I cleaned up the metal and welded the new guide in place.

New Paint Job - Red just wasn't my color

top of page It took a little massaging but I got the flap back in place and tack welded it down for future access. I removed the 2 front plates and pulled the shift rod out, greased it and slid it through the new guide and connected it to the transmission - tested and all worked good.
